The Pearl Challenge: Celebrating Healthy & Quality Food

Hi Fabulous Traveler, welcome to your new life!

Nutrition is one of the cornerstones of a healthy life, as well as exercising and sleeping. If you eat in a healthy way, you’ll feel tremendous energy flow through your veins, and start enjoying and celebrating food.

One great side effect of this is that you’ll start reducing your consumption of sugar, and you will no longer be tempted to eat McDonalds or other fast food. You'll have accustomed your body to healthy food, and you can no longer support any kind of processed or unhealthy food.

You're on your way, Fabulous Traveler! You've already learned a lot.

You started by tossing all the junk food you had accumulated in your house and replaced it with one serving of fruits and vegetables on your plate.

Next, you learned that your plate must be primarily composed of vegetables. The more veggies and greater the variety - the better (And yes, potatoes don’t count).

Fruits and plants first...Always.

First, you fill your plate with veggies and once this has been done, you can start thinking about the source of protein.

While thinking about protein, avoid red meat because of the numerous studies linking red meat with heart disease. It's always better to replace red meat with poultry or fish.

Fish and other types of seafood are major sources of healthy long-chain omega-3 fats, and they are high in protein and low in saturated fat. Establish the habit of eating fish several times a week, Fabulous Traveler.

After choosing the protein, you’ll be adding a source of carbohydrates to your plate. Also note that whole grains and natural foods are always better than highly processed food. Choose brown rice instead of white rice and quinoa instead of regular pasta. You started to enjoy eating whole-grain bread; maybe even to the point of eating it for breakfast.

You should celebrate, Fabulous Traveler! Celebrate good choices and healthy food!

Healthy eating can be as delicious as it is nutritious—a feast for the senses as well as good for the body.

Next, you started replacing soda, processed fruit juice, and other drinks high in sugar, with simpler options like water and tea.

Your final challenge, Fabulous Traveler, is where you will consolidate everything you’ve learned up to now into your new life.

Your challenge

Three times in the next week:

  • Eat a serving of fruits and vegetables with each meal, at least three times.
  • Eat fish three times next week. Reduce your red meat consumption.
  • Eat whole grains with your lunch and dinner.
  • Drink water and substitute soda and sugary drinks with it.
  • Eat a breakfast high in protein.
